Tagging Costumes
A long-time family friend donated her costumes to The King's Courts this week. It was a blessing to get the collection of tunics, scarves, sashes, and dance dresses that she no longer used.
Fountain of Grace has generously let me keep my costumes in a closet at the church building. However, some of the things in the closet are theirs. I needed a cheap and quick way to tag costumes, so that I could tell at a glance what belonged to who.
Fusible interfacing came to the rescue! Last summer, three girls helped me cut small squares of interfacing, iron them to the inside of costumes, and label them (using pen) with "The King's Courts" and their number. Tunics are labeled as anything from "Pink #1" to "Striped #15" and head coverings are labeled similarly. A chart was then put together that lists the name, a short description, and, for tunics, the waist and length measurement. This helps keep my 64+ tunics organized so that I can easily find what I need!
I labeled the new costumes yesterday, and it was nice how easy it was to add them to my growing collection. My costume chart let me easily find what number they needed to be labeled, and using the computer, I could quickly insert a new row to the chart to add the new tunics in the right spot.
The fusible interfacing has lasted well so far (even through the wash), and it's definitely a cheaper alternative to buying and sewing in pre-made tags!

Ballerina Butterflies
On Tuesday, the two younger classes had fun dressing up in butterfly wings and flying/dancing around the room the last few minutes of class. There is an older class this summer as well, but they don't get to dress up like the younger ones! :)

Back to Work
After a wonderful 3-week vacation, I've returned to Alabama and have been preparing for summer ballet (classes start tomorrow!) and this summer's musical, "The Cord of Courage" (auditions are July 6th). I've had a wonderful break, relaxing and being refreshed with family and friends. However, even in the car, I couldn't keep from planning ahead as new dance song ideas kept coming. =)
It's good to be back, and I'm praying for God to be glorified in this summer!
